Just an update on art and shows since the end of November, going into the New Year.
November -Jan. 6th 2022, the show, "And The Envelope Please..."was shown in Waxahachie, Texas.
The Month of December saw me having a new pop up art show to fill in a spot for a friend that had to cancel. It was lovely to be able to introduce my new children's collection in person, and I will be trying to add one of those to help that market for each show, if not more than one during 2022.
For the show Baby It's Cold Outside, which opens today Jan. 8th 2022; the children's Collection painting I selected is titled, "Oh My...My Umbrella", and shows a little girl walking on a rainy or windy day, as she is surprised by her umbrella being turned inside out! (Ever happen to you?)
Additionally, there are large works in this show. Once experimental that was shown at thegallery8680 in 2021, and is not on my website, is an abstract mixed media, which is titled, "Floating On Water". In this piece I use glass in addition to paint to allow the viewer to create their own story.
Another, titled, By The Grace of God, is a large 36" x 48", my largest to date, and again, is not offered on my website.
A smaller 16" x 20" helps fill in a story for the viewer, with the title of "Lighthouse". These paintings are not quite minimalistic, yet give vast space on the canvas, for thought from the viewer to create or imagine a story based on their own knowledge or inner voice and experience. The images are complimented by the energetic brushstrokes of water.
I invite you to view this show in person if in Texas, or as much as you can by contacting the artist.
I look forward to our new list of shows opening approximately every two months in 2022.
Happy New Year, and may 2022 be a prosperous one with a better start that the first week.
Sincerely,
Amy Carter Ishmael
