Amy's Thought's On All Things About Becoming A Professional Emerging Artist
Adding Subject Matter to an Artist Portfolio

In 2020, I painted Texas, and a smidge of New York from travels. I painted mainly landscapes as I've not "studied"on my own or asking for help things like deer and birds, as that was the only wildlife, I had thought I might see here.
However, today I saw a family of big cats. Not bobcats, and not game, just the cats that used to popukate our area. I guess taking a year off from lots of commuters on the road, helped them feel they could find water and food, in some of the areas they had inhabited before progress and subdivisions appeared.
I'm not yet skilled for closeups of these animals. However, the largest one appeared to have a small mane or at least the coloring and shadow made it appear so. I had to look them up to see they were what we call mountain lions. The other name for them are cougars. They have long tails, not the short tails like bobcats do. They play and romp when at rest with their mother.
I had a very special day today, and feel like since I am going to paint in another state later this year that I may be seeing even more wildlife.
I saw a baby poisonous snake on a recent En Plein Air trip around populated trails, (and thank God I had something to place on the ground so I could walk by without that snake getting it's strike on.
I decided that I shouldn't wear skirts and tennis shoes to paint in, yet here I was today, in a longer skirt and tennis shoes when I came upon this family of big cats... , yet in all fairness, I wasn't there to paint, just gather visual encouragement, and pray.
Not all members are seen in this painting, and I'll gain experience as I practice, so this one isn't for sale.
I most likely will invest in some hiking boots soon. God has been presenting new opportunities to see His creation and I must prepare.
Keep Painting and smiling, and enjoying the journey of life.
